Blanco Beef Noodle

I doubted the quality of this store's beef noodle as the best to me was the good old days of far east food court (the name I forgotten).

I went in during off peak hours and was served monotonously by the staff as there's no rush for any one of us.

Price was reasonable at $7.90 for a single pax. With soup refillable (I only eat dry ones). As I took my time to fill up my tiny saucer with their chilli, prawn paste... Interestingly peanuts crunch as well, I was thinking, all young kids as staff... 可以好吃到哪里去...

And the beef gravy was too little, kinda chunky, I had to stir and mix up the noodles and sauce rather thoroughly.

As usual, I took a sip of the thick soup of any other food sets. And I realized I was savoring the soup liao!

Next, I pinched up some noodles with a slight scoop of the gravy. Damp it further with the chilli and opened wide my mouth to taste it... Wahlah! I was triggered by the non-sour, super tasty chilli and tinges of the prawn paste with crunching of the peanut bits in between the beef slice and noodles. The rest was history...

And it had me thinking of developing this food app that could be rather interesting... 😋

Toa Payoh Lorong 4 "Hay" Mee aka Prawn Noodle and Chicken Rice

Hay Mee: Go for yellow noodles, dry with a little chilli for spicy eaters.
First thing, take a bite of the bah you poh that scatters across the red bow.
Followed by sipping a spoon of soup.
Take a bite of the yellow noodles.
Trust me, its so local and nostalgic that you feel that you were at TPY kampong 20 years ago!

Chicken rice: First taste of chicken (I had breast meat) was refreshing with a tinge of sesame oil. Pleasant! Marination and dressing of meat was well taken care of. With a dip of their special concocted chilli, chicken rice will never taste the same again.
Rice was cooked just nice and with a splash of dark soy sauce, it tasted fresh with the aroma of the sauce. Mixed with the chicken and again! You are back to TPY kampong 30 years ago (just now 20 years, now 30 years). Lol!

Google Toa Payoh Lor 4 Block 85A
Price: $3.50 to $5 (for either prawn mee or chicken rice), $5 or less comes with a drink.
Try the lime juice and see a plum at the bottom of the cup. :)

Committed staff of the eating house at work! Special request for photos to be taken! :)

Char kway tiao @ Zion road hawker centre

Found just opposite Greatworld city, the queue is horrendous on a Sunday 2pm still.
But definitely worth the wait!
While the plate of CKT looks sloppy, you will never imagine how slurpy it tastes until you have a bite of it in your mouth.

Google address @ Stall 18, Zion hawker centre
Price: good $3.50 to $5

Fengshan's bah chor mee

Let's start with the most delicious and yet most affordable dish!
Bah Chor Mee! Or the SG-style Pork Ramen I call it!

Most of the time we eat it dry. But interestingly, at the stalls here, we eat it soup-style.
Soup is tasty and strong "pork" taste for pork lovers!
Noodle can be more tender though. Add with their fish soy sauce and big cut chilli, mama mia!

Google address @ Blk 85, Fengshan Centre, Bedok North
Price: Good old $2.5 / $3 per bowl
